Watch Focus: Pray for Our Children, May 16, 2025

“Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.” Matthew 14:21

“Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.” Matthew 15:38

In many ancient cultures, counting children ranked below adult males. That rationale possibly came from the real value of a man’s role in employment, military conscription, and value as working slaves. Through abortion, widespread exploitation, degenerating cultural morals, proliferation of technology, and poor educational standards, modern Western culture continues to undermine the value of children. The bible calls children:

FRUIT
BLESSING
INHERITANCE
STRENGTH
REWARD
GENERATIONAL SECURITY

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed but shall speak with their enemies in the gate.”  Psalm 127:2-4.

And we PRAY!

Pray for the children in your family by name.
Pray for the children in your church community.
Pray for their relationship with Jesus.
Pray for their spiritual, physical, and psychological well-being, and development.
Pray for their protection.
Pray for increased wisdom and stature, and favor with God and men.
Pray for their whole life to honor and serve the Lord.

Loose righteousness and truth to overtake perversion and evil that seeks to destroy our children.

Bind principalities and powers that hate God and His plan for our children’s well-being, blessing, and success.

Pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our children!

Scriptural context:

And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. Mark 10:13-15

And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.” So, Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed him. …He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. Mark 5:22-24; 40-42

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”  Malachi 4:6

And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. So, I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:14-16

How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. With my lips I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways.  I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word. Psalm 119:9-16

When they saw Jesus, they were amazed; and his mother said, “Son, why have you done this to us? Look, your father and I have sought you anxiously.” And the boy said to them, “Why did you seek me? Did you not know that I must be about my father’s business?” But they did not understand the statement which he spoke to them. Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Luke 2:48-52
